O LSTS esteve presente na Missão Empresarial do BlueTech Cluster de San Diego, Estados Unidos da América, “The Maritime Alliance”, encontro B2B realizado pela Fórum Oceano, em Lisboa.

Este encontro serviu para expandir contactos já feitos durante o evento Oceanology Internacional 2018 com o presidente da Maritime Alliance, Michael B. Jones, e com o seu CEO, Greg Murphy, relativamente às calls de TNA (trans-national access) do projecto EUMarine Robots. Estas TNA foram também apresentadas a outras empresas que fazem parte da Maritime Alliance, tais como a Swift Engineering, Innerspace Corporation e Halo Maritime Defense Systems.

O contacto com instituições portuguesas serviu para promover as TNA de infraestruturas não portuguesas do consórcio do projecto.

Foi ainda feito um convite para apresentar o projecto EUMarine Robots em Agosto de 2018 na University of Southern Mississippi (MIST Cluster), pelo seu Director Robbie Ingram.

LSTS was present at the Missão Empresarial do BlueTech Cluster de San Diego, Estados Unidos da América, “The Maritime Alliance”, a B2B meeting held by Fórum Oceano in Lisbon.

This meeting served to expand contacts already made during Oceanology International 2018 event with Maritime Alliance President Michael B. Jones and its CEO, Greg Murphy, regarding TNA (trans-national access) calls for the EUMarine Robots project. These TNAs were also presented to other companies that are part of the Maritime Alliance, such as Swift Engineering, Innerspace Corporation and Halo Maritime Defense Systems.

The contact with Portuguese institutions served to promote the TNA of non-Portuguese infrastructures of the project consortium.

An invitation was also made to present the EUMarine Robots project in August 2018 at the University of Southern Mississippi (MIST Cluster), by its Director Robbie Ingram.

As Universidades canadianas Alberta e Windsor pretendem explorar formas de colaboração no Ensino, através de intercâmbios académicos, cotutelas de doutoramentos, entre outros. Para além disso, têm como objectivo o desenvolvimento de colaborações na área da Investigação, nomeadamente engenharia mecânica, engenharia eletrónica, energias renováveis e ambiente.

Para tal, foi realizado um evento na Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, presidido pelo Prof. João Falcão e Cunha, onde foram discutidas diversas possibilidades de colaboração a nível da área de Ensino.

A Delegação canadiana foi constituída pela Sra. Kelly Maher, Diretora de Investigação e Internacionalização da Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade de Alberta, pelo Dr. Mehrdad Saif, Reitor Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade de Windsor e pelo Dr. Eurico Mendes Nobre, Assessor para Assuntos de Política Externa e Comunicação da Embaixada do Canadá em Portugal.

Umas das partes do programa desta visita consistiu numa apresentação da unidade de investigação SYSTEC - Research Center for Systems and Technologies, realizada pelo Prof. Fernando Lobo Pereira.

Seguidamente, foi feita uma visita ao Laboratório de Sistemas e Tecnologia Subaquática (LSTS), onde o Prof. João Borges de Sousa fez uma apresentação do espaço, das actividades e dos principais objectivos do trabalho desenvolvido no LSTS.

Canadian Universities Alberta and Windsor intend to explore ways of collaborating in Education, through academic exchanges, doctoral programs, among others. In addition, they aim to develop collaborations in the area of Research, namely mechanical engineering, electronic engineering, renewable energies and the environment.

For that, an event was held at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, chaired by Prof. João Falcão e Cunha, where several possibilities of collaboration on the area of Education were discussed.

The Canadian delegation consisted of Ms. Kelly Maher, Director of Research and Internationalization at the College of Engineering, University of Alberta, Dr. Mehrdad Saif, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, University of Windsor, and Dr. Eurico Mendes Nobre, Advisor Policy and Communication from the Canadian Embassy in Portugal.

One of the parts of the program of this visit was a presentation by the research unit SYSTEC - Research Center for Systems and Technologies, conducted by Prof. Fernando Lobo Pereira.

Next, a visit was made to the Laboratory of Systems and Underwater Technology (LSTS), where Prof. João Borges de Sousa gave a presentation of the space, activities and main objectives of the work developed in LSTS.

O LSTS, em colaboração com a Escola Secundária João Gonçalves Zarco, através da sua iniciativa Erasmus+, procedeu a uma apresentação do contexto geral do laboratório, dando exemplos das suas operações e dos vários projectos em que se encontra envolvido, tais como Fire-RS e EUMarine Robots.

Esta visita contou com alunos e professores vindos de vários países, nomeadamente Suécia, Noruega, República Checa e Dinamarca. Foi ainda feito um tour pelo LSTS, para que os visitantes pudessem entrar em contacto em primeira mão com os sistemas desenvolvidos pelo laboratório.

O principal objectivo desta visita consistiu na abertura de portas para uma ligação mais estreita entre as duas entidades, possibilitando a criação de diversas iniciativas curriculares que beneficiem tanto a Escola Secundária João Gonçalves Zarco, como a Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, através do LSTS

LSTS, in collaboration with the João Gonçalves Zarco Secondary School, through its Erasmus + initiative, presented the general context of the laboratory, giving examples of its operations and the various projects in which it is involved, such as Fire-RS and EUMarine Robots.

This visit had students and professors coming from several countries, namely Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic and Denmark. A tour of the LSTS was also made so that visitors could come into contact first hand with the systems developed by the laboratory.

The main objective of this visit was to open the doors to a closer connection between the two entities, allowing the creation of several curricular initiatives that benefit both the João Gonçalves Zarco Secondary School and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, through LSTS.

The LSTS was present at "Fórum do Mar 2013" (http://www.forumdomar.exponor.pt/), an event organized by AEP (Portuguese Entrepreneurial Association) and Oceano XXI (Association for the Knowledge and Economy of the Sea). This event was held in Oporto, Portugal and was targeted at professionals working in the different sectors that make up the sea economy, the scientific community, and the general public.

We showcased our autonomous vehicle LAUV Xtreme 2, a Manta gateway, the high performance data-logger Leviathan A100 and our newest development: the WAVY Coastal drifter. Our presence in this forum was made possible by the RAIA.co (http://www.observatorioraia.org) project, funded by EU-FEDER and POCTEP (Transboundary Cooperation Program between Portugal and Spain)
