O LSTS esteve presente na Missão Empresarial do BlueTech Cluster de San Diego, Estados Unidos da América, “The Maritime Alliance”, encontro B2B realizado pela Fórum Oceano, em Lisboa.

Este encontro serviu para expandir contactos já feitos durante o evento Oceanology Internacional 2018 com o presidente da Maritime Alliance, Michael B. Jones, e com o seu CEO, Greg Murphy, relativamente às calls de TNA (trans-national access) do projecto EUMarine Robots. Estas TNA foram também apresentadas a outras empresas que fazem parte da Maritime Alliance, tais como a Swift Engineering, Innerspace Corporation e Halo Maritime Defense Systems.

O contacto com instituições portuguesas serviu para promover as TNA de infraestruturas não portuguesas do consórcio do projecto.

Foi ainda feito um convite para apresentar o projecto EUMarine Robots em Agosto de 2018 na University of Southern Mississippi (MIST Cluster), pelo seu Director Robbie Ingram.

LSTS was present at the Missão Empresarial do BlueTech Cluster de San Diego, Estados Unidos da América, “The Maritime Alliance”, a B2B meeting held by Fórum Oceano in Lisbon.

This meeting served to expand contacts already made during Oceanology International 2018 event with Maritime Alliance President Michael B. Jones and its CEO, Greg Murphy, regarding TNA (trans-national access) calls for the EUMarine Robots project. These TNAs were also presented to other companies that are part of the Maritime Alliance, such as Swift Engineering, Innerspace Corporation and Halo Maritime Defense Systems.

The contact with Portuguese institutions served to promote the TNA of non-Portuguese infrastructures of the project consortium.

An invitation was also made to present the EUMarine Robots project in August 2018 at the University of Southern Mississippi (MIST Cluster), by its Director Robbie Ingram.

Every two years the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE OES) sponsors a collaborative workshop to bring together those working in the field of autonomous underwater vehicles.

In 2018 this diverse group from around the world will meet in Porto, Portugal at the University of Porto for AUV 2018.

During the 15th to the 19th of May the LSTS was invited by the MET Office to participate in the 2017 edition of the ISARRA Flight Week.

The week counted with the attendance of various UAV flight groups from University of Bath, Universität Augsburg (Institut für Geographie), National Physical Laboratory, University of Hertfordshire and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory to name a few.

During the week various flights were carried out by the different teams with the main purpose to explore the applicability of UAVs in the area of meteorological studies.

Although this year's participation was merely done as observers, plans were established to take part with the LSTS UAV fleet next year.

After the warm reception that the LSTS toolchain received from its presentation all the intervening partners agree that there is a large potential for cooperation, with the toolchain as a basis of development and operation.

From 27 July to 7 August takes place the “Volta Portugal”, the largest national cycling competition. Associated with the competition is the initiative "Volta ao Conhecimento" that brings knowledge of various areas such as land, health, history, music and innovation, among others, closer to the public of the race.

In one of theses activities was present Paul Dias, a LSTS member to talk about our activities and systems.

From June 2nd to 4th, LSTS participated in the “Oceans Business Week” where we showcased Networked Ocean project and MarInfo projects, in order to allow both projects visibility and promotion among specific interest groups and the general public, along with our systems and software.

This event, a large business meeting of the Sea Economy, was promoted by the Portuguese Ministry of the Sea and AIP Foundation.

Next Friday and Saturday Professor João Sousa will be at the 2016 Oceanography Meeting organized by the APOCEAN (Portuguese Oceanography Society). Professor João Sousa was invited to give a lecture that will be held on Friday afternoon and will focus on Networked vehicle systems for ocean operations: from concepts to experimentation.

Last week the Chief of the Naval Staff (CEMA) and National Maritime Authority, Admiral Luis Manuel Fourneaux Macieira Fragoso and head of the CEMA office, the Rear Admiral Henrique Eduardo Passaláqua de Gouveia e Melo had the opportunity to visit FEUP. They we impressed with what they saw and also showed interest in setting a medium to long -term collaborative program between both entities.
